I will be experiencing her for my first time this June, 2006 as she comes to America.
I admit I don't know alot about her. I've just started reading a book on her.
Suddenly, she seems to be a topic in books I read, magazines I puruse....I'm not sure if it's the media, but I am drawn to her.
I can't help but to wonder if my finding the advertisement for her American visit means something for me.
Can anyone share their experiences with Sri Amma? Have you seen her in person? In spirit?
Thank you.
Namaste

Re: Sri Amma Karunamayi
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 9:36 AMHer mission seems to be very much in tune with Saraswati, the Goddess of Spiritual Learning...
Sri Karunamayi promotes the chanting of such MahaMantras as the Mrityunjaya and Gayatri mantras. She gives in-depth discourses on them and cd's of her chanting them are very lovely...She has that spot-on perfect musical sanskrit pronunciation.
She also initiates into the Saraswati mantra...and promotes especially meditation on this. Her energy is very Sattvic...cool and sweet and composed...not as ecstatic-passionate as, say, Mata Amritanandamayi-Ma who activates her children in a different way.
I am not a formal devotee of Sri Karunamayi but have experienced her darshan and chant along with her cd's frequently. -

Tue, March 14, 2006 - 2:03 PMThank you!!
I have heard she is considered the Great Mother Kali incarnate, this is why I choose to post in this tribe.
Is there a particular chant cd of hers you would recommend?
Thank you again. -

Re: Sri Amma Karunamayi
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 2:57 PMIt is more often said that she is an incarnation, or at least a channel of Saraswati.
the tutorial cd of her chanting the Mahamrityunjaya mantra, call-and-responce style with a congregation is marverlous and a great way to learn this 32 syllable mantra (otherwise difficult)
her Saraswati mantra japa cd is powerful and mearly having it playing in the room has resulted in some creative breakthroughs for me.
the Gayatri cd contains the rarely included second verse of the Gayatri.
I have heard more frequently that Sri Amritanandamayi Ma is an avatar of Kali. but whose to say?

Re: Sri Amma Karunamayi
Wed, March 15, 2006 - 9:16 AMI had just ordered a book on Ammachi, thinking it was Amma (forgive my ignorance)..but I am glad I did order it. More knowledge.
I'm also waiting for an Amma biography to come in.
I think there is no better time than now for me to have these ladies in my life. -

Re: Sri Amma Karunamayi
Wed, March 15, 2006 - 6:04 PMmany people here in the Northwest (and elsewhere) love both emanations of the Divine Mother and attend their Darshan whenever either of them are in this quadrant. There are those who are chelas of one or the other, but who are in love with both and are activated in different ways by each. Neither seems to mind. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Sri Amma Karunamayi

Re: Sri Amma Karunamayi
Wed, March 15, 2006 - 7:46 PMOften enough people confuse Karunamayi with Ammachi as they both are referred to as Amma and their tours follow a similar path across the States every summer. I think Ammachi tends to be seen in the news/press more often with frequent references to marathon darshan sessions and so forth. People say wonderful things about Karunamayi but as a lover of Kali and devotee of Ammachi's i suggest that if Kali draws you might consider meeting her as well. Although things are probably more low key around Karunamayi which i am sure is nice. -

Wed, March 15, 2006 - 9:14 PM"Often enough people confuse Karunamayi with Ammachi as they both are referred to as Amma..."
Yes, this comes up a lot, and there is even another fair skinned guru calling herself Amma now. Sorry to say that i don't have anymore info on that Amma, but i saw her website awhile back...
Mata Amritanandamayi (ammachi) certainly can draw a crowd, and keep it going till the wee hours of the morning...
I agree about her Kali appeal... -

Sat, March 18, 2006 - 7:32 PMPrabuddh,
The book I ordered is "The Path Of The Mother."
Before I ordered it from Amazon, I actually looked around sites and even pictures of Ammachi and Karunamayi looked veeery similar to each other. So I assumed they were the same.
I too am very drawn to meet Karunamayi in June...very excited.
I am equally excited to learn about Ammachi as well.
Thanks for the posts, everyone. -
