Hello everyone,
It is a pleasure to join this group. I have to admit, I am a bit surprised with myself for being this into Ma Kali, I generally tend to pay my reverance and then turn around and run as fast as I can when Fierce Deities are concerned (and I know Ma Kali tops this list...hehe)
But I'm beginning to understand what makes a Dark Mother important..(I read a long time back that Fierce Mother only makes sense when you need a Mother who will enter battle to protect you).
Since I have had a very challenging time for the past few years and find myself facing a good amount of frustration and dissapointment in life I decided to persue the mantra of Kali. However the Bija-Mantra of Kali seems a bit too intense for me and so I feel that I have to discontinue the 22-syllable vidya of Kali.
So what I mean to ask is, are there any mantras that I can use for easing difficulties and fulfilling desires that relate to Kali Devi? and Dhyanas for them?

I'm going out on a limb in this crowd to say no. While I'm sure there are many who have their favorite mantra to help ease suffering, core shaktism as I see it regards no will other than Ma's. You don't ask Ma for anything except what SHE wants, and it's mistake for any mortal being to believe they can ever know what She wants, except complete and total surrender to Her.
To surrender to Ma as a true devotee means giving everything to Her, all your joy and especially all your suffering. In my opinion, saying a mantra for Ma is much better received as appreciation for what you have right now rather than a plea to make things better for yourself.

Mon, February 9, 2009 - 6:01 AMFrom what i understand, Kali is the destroyer of our ego and fierce protector of our true self. She protects our divine innocence and wholeness from the divisions that our mind creates. I find her comforting because I know Her fiercness is there to protect me and also to help tear down my masks that the ego wants to keep in place. Our true self can then blossom under Her feirce protection and guidance. She then becomes the Divine Shelter and loving Mother of her creation... Us, her children.
Maybe the hard times that you are facing are actually the blade of Kali cutting away your ego, only to reveal your divine self. Kali's lessons can be relenting and just as fierce as she is herself! Mantras that allow you to surrender to the Goddess are most comforting to me in hard times. If I were you, I would search for a mantra that felt calming to me or made me feel some sort of peace when i chanted it. Search for it with devotion and maybe you will find one just for you.
"May the Goddess lead us from untruth to truth, from darkness to light, and from death to immortality. Om, peace, peace, peace."
Jai Ma! Many Blessings
